My name is Peter Watson, I studied art at Derby School of Art in 1973 under the tuition of professional artist, Harold Barklam. In 1974 I continued my studies at Derby College of Art, I then embarked on a career as a signwriter/screenprinter for a major retail company. In recent years my passion for art as been rekindled and I am now creating work on a regular basis.
My main subject matter is landscapes and coastline, and living near Ashbourne in the Derbyshire Dales, this gives me every opportunity to sketch and paint if a subject, mood and weather conditions inspire me. Using mainly acrylics on either board or canvas, I like to work at speed to capture the moment in one session. This I feel creates a freshness and vibrancy to a painting that is not overworked.
